2. If someone is bullying your kids online, keep the messages they send you for evidence
Never...
- Meet with people you don’t know online. They are probably not who they say they are. They could harm, harass, kidnap, or steal from you. Meeting with them is not something you should do.
- Give out any personal information. Personal information could be anything from: first/ last name, address, phone number, date of birth (complete OR partial), age, social security number, e-mail address; Also, don't mix those withgender, school name, favorite sport, favorite celebrity, family member names.
- Put anything in your screen name that is inappropriate to describe yourself, Isafe examples are sexyman42 and hotbabygirl
- Make a list of Internet rules at your home.
- Keep all home computers in a public area of the house.
- Make a password with symbols, numbers, letters, and maybe even capitol letters will be useful.
- Make sure no one is looking when you enter you password.
Drawing the Line
- Be confident and act as if you don't deal with manipulation
- Avoid flirting or starting a conversation that may invite sexual talk
- Refuse to answer questions that make you feel uncomfortable
- If you can, block the person that is making you feel uncomfortable, if the site doesn't allow you to, make a new account.
- If you realize the conversation is risky to your safety, or is uncomfortable stop typing and log off.
